The growing literature on green banking encompasses diverse themes that require mapping to understand conceptual relationships and research directions. This study aims to map the thematic structure and temporal patterns of green banking research published between 2021 and 2026 using a bibliometric approach. The dataset comprises 200 publications retrieved from Scopus through Publish or Perish using the keyword “green banking”. Terms extracted from publication titles and abstracts were analyzed using VOSviewer, with a minimum occurrence threshold of eight. The results were presented through network, overlay, and density visualizations. The publications received 5,372 citations, averaging 26.86 citations per publication. The mapping identified 14 terms grouped into three clusters: green finance and its implications for the banking sector; green banking practices, environmental performance, and mediation mechanisms; and the role of green banking in sustainability. Green banking was the most visually prominent node and occupied the area with the highest density. Overlay visualization indicated that green finance, sustainability, and mediating role had relatively more recent average publication years, while green central banking and mediating role displayed relatively lower density. The study concludes that the analyzed literature connects green finance, banking practices, and sustainability through interrelated thematic groups. These findings provide a basis for further investigation into mediation mechanisms, central bank policies, and sustainable financing. Identifying research gaps nevertheless requires further examination of publication content.
